Timberline Bike Park Update

Source: Timberline Lodge

Hello Riders,

Now that we're finally rolling into summer, we wanted to give you all an update on Timberline's mountain bike project.  Since our last communication, we have received an unbelievable amount of input. Hundreds of letters of support have been submitted to the US Forest Service. We've already received a ton of great ideas and comments on what the public is hoping to see in our mountain bike program once it's launched. Needless to say, this has energized us even further on our mission to create the best lift-accessed downhill mountain bike area in the US Pacific Northwest.
The US Forest Service has decided that it's important to do additional environmental analysis (known as an EA) and we are scheduled to complete it in December. This will require public involvement and an analysis of environmental impacts.
Thanks for all the letters of support that have been submitted so far -- they have been extremely helpful to the project by demonstrating the overwhelming demand for this activity!  There will be at least one more important time to voice your support during the official public review and comment period of the EA -- scheduled to happen in October.
As it stands now, Gravity Logic will be on-site this summer to design and flag the new trails, we will complete the Environmental Analysis with the US Forest Service, and we will complete our operational plans.  If the EA is approved, our team will be ready to start building as soon as the snow melts next summer (2011).

New and Improved 'Cake-Walk' Drop on Chorus X

Post Canyons CEO Trailbuilder Douglas Johnson sent out an email showing off the new 'Cake-Walk' Drop improvements to 'Chorus-X'.  Its now 16 inches wide and 3 feet longer to negoitiate that perfect 'Shore-style' run. I wonder if he did all this work at night, with a headlap and his iPod blasting his ears? All signs point to 'Yes'. Everyone owes that man a handshake and a genuine 'Thank You' for his devotion to Post Canyon. He builds it, we respect it- its that simple.

Spaggetti Feed Mega-Post And PumpTrack Race Video

Last night a very special event happened to kick off 'Families In Family Man' when a local womens MTB club hosted a 'Post Canyon Trailbuilders Appreciation Party' by feeding us with lots of Spaggetti (cranking outta the factory) and lots of yummy salads to choose from. The sweet part was the refreshements had a huge range from wines to select beers as everyone chatted and absorbed the scene. A small bonfire kept the mosquitos away and you could hear the laughter of many children as they charged around the trails. I was told this morning in an email that $255 dollars was raised and that the purchase of a backpack sprayer to control obnoxious weeds will be placed in the hands of a dedicated trailbuilder. Pretty cool eh! Here's some great photos of the event. Thanks to all who attended and supported this heart warming, community gathering event that will forever be the epitmone of what riding your bike is all about. Cheers!

Sandy Ridge Trail System Temporary Trail Closure June 3nd- July 20th

Source: Douglas Van Zandt-CAMBA

In order to address undesirable trail conditions and allow for installation of a trail bridge over Little Joe Creek, the Bureau of Land Management is instituting a temporary trail closure of Hide and Seek Trail.

Unseasonably wet weather coupled with high levels of visitor use has led to ongoing damage to Hide and Seek Trail. During the temporary closure, BLM will be performing priority maintenance including enhancing drainage and armoring various trail sections. Staying off of trail during this time will improve long-term trail conditions.

Throughout this period, bridge installation will also be taking place. Public safety concerns with bridge installation have led to the need to close certain sections of this trail while this work is performed. The Sandy Ridge Trails will be on a rotating schedule for the next 6 weeks. We are anticipating that all sections of Hide and Seek trail will open by July 20th.

Trail Closure Dates

June 3rd:

Entire Hide and Seek Trail Closed to Public Use

June 18th:

Lower Hide and Seek Trail (below Little Joe Creek crossing) Opens
Upper Hide and Seek Trail (above Little Joe Creek) Remains Closed

July 20th:

All segments of Hide and Seek Trail Open for Public Use

You can visit the BLM webpage: http://www.blm.gov/or/resources/recr...php?siteid=395 for trail related closures and periodic project updates or contact the BLM at 503-375-5646 with questions related to this trail closure.

Please respect these trail closures and refrain from accessing closed portions of the trail system.
